Inspiration :: A Country Wedding

Being a country girl at heart (growing up in Oklahoma will do that to you) I have a deep love for down home styled weddings.  This wedding would be right at home on the farm, in the meadow, or near the barn.  The teal and orange palate is lively but comfortable.  Keep the flowers wild, the food a little bit messy, and the decor home grown.

Wedding trend :: Prints

Prints are popping up everywhere.  I love, love, love the idea of using a print in your wedding palate.  Whether  it's your napkins, table linens, or bridesmaid dresses,  a print will give your wedding an on trend look with a gentle nod to the past.

These screen printed linen napkins would be lovely at a rustic wedding. This could also be an easy, although time consuming DIY project.  Just find a fabric you love and sew up some square dinner napkins.

Invitation Round Up

The stationary you select for your wedding is key.

Creativity and quality are the gold standard when it comes to paper goods.  So whether you are purchasing or designing your own invitations, make them special, and remember that you are setting the tone for what's to come.

From custom designed letterpress invitations to total DIY, here are a few of my favorites...

$100 Diy printable invitation.  Have these printed on nice card stock at a local printer for an expensive look that's surprisingly affordable. Available for purchase from www.littleloveshop.blogspot.com

A few gems from A Printable Press, they have an extensive catalog of invites that you can print yourself or have printed from an online or local printer. They can even format them for letterpress.  Lots of options can be found here.

Exquisite calligraphy and letterpress from Blackbird Letterpress.

Buy this invitation kit for $50, you get enough paper and envelopes for 30 invitations, you can select a free printable template design, and the paper is seed paper!  So your guests can plant it and grow wildflowers.  How cute is that?

Hints and Tips...

PRINTER.

*  Top-feed printers are ideal for printing at home.  Bottom-feed printers can also work, but the paper can develop a bend from passing over the rollers during the printing process.

*  If selecting a heavy weight paper for home printing plan on feeding each one by hand.

PAPER.

* When selecting paper to print at home pick the heaviest weight your inkjet can handle.  It's wise to do test prints before going whole hog with your paper purchase.

* PaperSource is a great resource for the DIY'er.  In store or online, they make it easy to print at home. This is where I went when I  made my wedding invitations.  www.paper-source.com

DETAILS.

* Use vintage stamps or have a custom stamp made through the USPS site.

If using vintage stamps, when handing over your invitations ask if they can be "hand cancelled" this is your best bet for them getting to their destination in the best shape possible.

Alice + Sebastian

Today I am featuring Alice + Sebastian's super cute Palm Springs wedding.  The location, Ace hotel (home of the next Hitched event), was the perfect backdrop for this modern wedding.

Alice planned the wedding herself, along with help from her mother and dear friend Liz. Alice's mom even made the pepper jelly they gave away as favors.

From the Amsale dress, to the invitations designed by the groom,  everything was just as sweet, and as modern as could be. Day of coordination and florals provided by Cache Fiore.

 The Flowers were the perfect amount of pretty and modern. Blue satin Christian Louboutin's? Swoon...

The groom looked dapper in his Paul Smith blue velvet jacket.  After the ceremony the wedding took to the streets,  led by a mariachi band... How much fun is that?!

 I am in love with this dress.  Every bride should look this chic on her wedding day.

Happy wedding guests, an amazing kids table, and everyone getting down to The Flashdance on the dance floor.

Congratulations Alice and Sebastian!
